Theme 6-Nanopatterning and Assembly
Lead: Prof Caroline Ross (Mass Tech)
This theme will focus on creating a set of innovative nanoscale patterning and new assembly methods for functional nanostructures to support Theme 1 drivers as well as to promote cost effective manufacturing. Research efforts within Theme 6 are grouped within three main areas: (a) pattern generation using polymer self-assembly beyond current limits to below 5nm (b) synthesis of complex heterostructured nanowires, and (c) growth of DNA-based self-assembly processes. The research focus will aim at nanoscale material assembly from Themes 3-5 into arrays of integrated devices at the physical fabric level (Theme 1).
